The journey around the medicine wheel is all part of our life’s adventure and whilst we do shift and move anyway through our lives, the teachings shared in the medicine wheel help us become more awake and aware of how we are living our lives.
The world is a huge place and there are millions of us. All living and doing our best to make it this lifetime. It is a beautiful, wonderful, dangerous and formidable world. And the best we can do is to create the world we want to live in within ourselves.

Medicine Wheel Drum
We begin to understand that the universal energy is benign and purely responds to our requests. These are not our wishes these are our core beliefs and patterns, some of which we are not even aware of.
None of us is so enlightened to be able to fix the greater world. The greatest impact we have is cleaning up our own back yard.Nicky MottThe tools shared in the classes are to my mind some of the most profound life skills you will ever need to get you through the ups and downs of life. Saying this it does not mean that you will never face another challenge in your life, that life won’t be uncomfortable. In fact sometimes it gets even more uncomfortable because you get to a point where you are always awake and aware of how you are responding to the world around you. So you do begin to see things that you may have missed or been able to ignore in the past.
Living the life of a shaman everyday is a challenge in our families, in society, our cultures basically in every area of life in any moment.
Ultimately it is a way of being in the world where we pause to choose how we wish to respond. A place where we no longer re-act, continuing to throw past experience and beliefs out in front of us and live into them. We choose another way, maybe so subtle we cannot even touch, hear or see it, but the energetic shift helps to make all the difference in how we respond to our world and how our world responds to us.
More importantly how does our small version of this world look?
What conflict do we have going on inside of us?
What beliefs do we hang onto that actually cause us and others harm?
It is no good looking out there and trying to change things. We have to start on the inside. We are a mini version of the greater world, so everything that we can do to bring balance to our own lives increases the likelihood for this to occur in the world we have created around us.
The minute we see the world as needing to be fixed we are already telling the universe that something is wrong. Instead walking as a shaman we remember that there is never anyone out there to blame. We remember that nothing ever needs fixing. We remember that every encounter is an opportunity for us to know ourselves deeper without any deception. We remember that we have to project to see our shadows. It is how long we leave the projection out there that causes the problem. A projection left is energy out there in the ether that someone will scoop up and use to chuck at a president, a society, a culture, a country, a religion. There are those that will take that energy and use it for power. This is their part in the whole equation, in the map.
The map you have the greatest influence on is your own. None of us is so enlightened to be able to fix the greater world. The greatest impact we have is cleaning up our own back yard.
The duality we live in means that in order to know light we know dark. To know good is to know bad. To know superior is to know inferior. We remember that it is about bringing all our opposites into balance so that each has an equal footing. It does not mean that any one has ultimate power but the intelligence of the two sides colliding is where the wisdom lies. As we bring our internal world into balance we become more condensed and nourished. No longer having to search outside of ourselves for the answers. The place of knowledge and wisdom.
